Scatter Plots

Scatter plots are an excellent tool for displaying correlation and linear relationship between two variables.

In Stats Pad select XY Scatter Plot from the graphs tab of the menu.

Enter graph titles if desired.

Select the Dependent (or Y) data (not including labels) and tap the Y data button.

Select the Independent (or X) data (not including labels) and tap the X data button.

Tapping the “Create” button will generate the scatter plot.

By default the data points are unconnected and have no trend line. These can be added using the graph edit menu. Double tap the graph to display the edit menu and go to the “Trend Line” tab. From here you can turn on or off data point connection as well as add one of several least squares fit lines including linear, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and power. To display the equation for the chosen trend line turn the Equation setting “ON”
